Maybe you should feature this in the next issues of The Tiny Times to get some real publicity ;)

I think it's neat that it IS in real time, yet if you could add some more, shorter and themed, world, that would make it out-of-this-world.

Hi everyone,

Over the past year, I have been working on a new web-based, online airline management game called Airline Enterprise. About a month ago, the game entered public beta and is currently open to the public for testing. I'd like to extend an invitation for anyone who is interested to try out the game and assist with development. In order to progress the game further we need to do more large-scale testing, which is difficult with only 44 members.

A little about me/history of the project:

A few of you may know me as Unknown98 from other games, most notably Cyber Airlines which is now defunct. This project started as a response to the shutdown of that game but quickly evolved into something much more.

I feel like there are two major points that make Airline Enterprise different from most other airline games:

  1. The game is in real-time. This slows down gameplay a bit and allows for finer control of all aspects of the airline.
  2. Routes are not limited to hub and spoke style; You have more creative control over the routes you fly.

Of course, depending on your style of gameplay the real-time aspect could be viewed as a pro or a con. But ultimately I think it gets players more involved in the day-to-day life of their airline. It can also be beneficial for people who may not have as much free time on their hands.

Here are a few screenshots of the game:

By no means is the game finished. There are still a lot of things I want to add before ending the public beta stage and officially launching the game. I have a to-do list posted on the forums which you can check out if you'd like.

You can check out the game here - http://www.airlineenterprise.com

Additionally, I'd like to thank Yuxi for having this section of the forum and allowing small projects like this a way of making themselves visible to a greater audience.

Again, anyone is welcome to join and try out the game, give suggestions, report bugs and so on. If anyone has any questions, ask away :)

Just starting doing this - It's actually pretty good! Not as good as AE yet... but still!

I tried it. Interesting, but too time-consuming. :)

Yeah - If you schedule the routes - It can be a bit easier, but you still have to depart EVERYTHING, I talked to the dev, and he said that he wants to make it auto-depart option, which would be really nice! We'll see. For now - I think It's a great start on a good game!

I like it to date, still getting my head around the steps required to get a profitable route etc, the auto departure would be good, but I would like it that auto depart is in place only for fully scheduled flights, not quick flights.

Ah - it's still in beta. I sort of like it, but you're right.

Love the idea of real time, of course it has its pros and cons but at the very least it differentiates it from the competition. I wish you all the best with this project.

Ive had a good go at this game, it has some very very good ideas however i agree it needs to be accelerated time, even if its 2hr days or something that would work well.

I have been playing AEn for the past few months in my scarce spare time. It is a challenging game to master compared o AE. Competition dynamics are much more realistic and difficult to manage. Route scheduling is an absolute nightmare to spend time on. For perspective, scheduling some 777s to fly a 15 hour flight to the us from Muscat took me nearly an hour. Because specific timings of routes and days need to be set up. By comparison, I used to set up routes in AE in well under a minute. It’s a massive difference.

Im getting very fond of airline enterprise, its still far too easy at this stage but im warming to the real time way of doing things, as above you have to really concentrate to get the most out of each aircraft and it allows for a much more realistic way of management. If you buy a leased aircraft thats stuck in the arse end of columbia you have to plan how to get it back home, it doesnt just appear at your airport.

It is also well supported by the developers who are constantly updating the game with features, yesterday for instance the logo and livery adition was made.

OK - new thoughts on the game:

Challenging, but fun. I like the RP section (not nearly as good as AE's press releases or Gallery, but still fun). I love how it's so realistic now (even if some of the flights don't depart when you tell them to, or they depart 20 times all at once :D ), and it's really a great opportunity to create a realistic airline for myself. I enjoy playing this game, and it's great for making realistic airline timetables.
