I trust Trip reports more than Skytrax. Don't trust em. I lived in Indonesia. And I flew with Garuda Indonesia or other Indonesian airlines quite often. I can't believed they rated Garuda as 5 stars airline. On board service is 4 stars for sure. But ground service is as bad as JFK during Summer Breaks when all the flights are canceled for 3 days due to tropical storm. 2 stars at most. So from my experienced, the reality is far from the ratings.

It seems they're quite biased towards Asian and Middle Eastern airlines, which is why you always see them at the top in their World Airline Awards nominations, while none of North America's airlines get any sort of recognition.I trust Trip reports more than Skytrax. Espacially United, after that passenger dragging scandal--their slogan should be "Fly the UN-friendly skies"Because North America airlines are all terrible

I mean Korean Air, JAL, ANA or whatnot is quite good, 3-4 stars in reality. Skytrax are not trustable. Also I do agreed that majority of airlines in the US should be rated at 2 stars at most.

Um.... I think Sky Trax have a little problem....
ST gives 5-star to Asiana Airlines, and The OZ (Asiana Airlines) does not have large coverage, and they cannot give "great memory" to passenger. And also they have something fail or wrong in Aircraft management.
They have tight schedule, so they have a lot of problems to operate OZ's schedule.
One day, I buy a ticket to CJJ-CJU (Chungju International to Jeju International (*Domestic Line)) they notified that "OZ ~~~ is delayed by aircraft condition..... "
I have same memory in Cambodia, K6 (Cambodia Ankor Airlines, They are LCC!)
I dont know why OZ operating tight schedule without enough aircraft.... and they are in deficit.....
I think, It really need "fair test" to give airlines' score...
I dont think UA is 2star.. They are worst airline in US but better than OZ in airline schedule. They have a few problem in Flight Attendant. I think they are 3 stars is good grade..
We have to think one more time to trust "ST" Airline raitings...
(Sorry for BAD Eng... )

Let's be honest here, I wouldn't call North American airlines terrible, but Asian airlines definitely have better service than them.It seems they're quite biased towards Asian and Middle Eastern airlines, which is why you always see them at the top in their World Airline Awards nominations, while none of North America's airlines get any sort of recognition.
Although I do agree that they exaggerate the ratings (either too low/high) for some Asian airlines.

In reality, a lot of SkyTrax's ratings are based off of things that aren't really visible to a single passenger (safety, on-time arrivals, etc.). Unfortunately, every passenger comes to an airline with some sort of bias and makes it pretty much impossible to be an impartial judge.

I do trust Skytrax. But it shouldn't stop you just because of one review, to not book your flight. Because at points it is not really accurate.

Airlines like Air Koryo, Ryanair and Spirit should all be 1 stars. All are god awful (Air Koryo for different reasons)

Although I consider SkyTrax as a guide. I don't trust them entirely

Idk, United wasn't terrible when I flew them, American is actually really fun to fly on, and Allegiant (shocker) isn't all that bad either. I don't have as much experience as I would like, especially since I have never flown a foreign carrier, but I think the US airlines are not as bad as Skytrax makes them out to be.

True - Delta actually has entertainment on a lot of their SH fleet, much more than almost any Europe airline can say...
