I would support the multiple worlds concept if it weren't for the bandwidth issues. Though closing registration is a drastic step, I believe it is a step that needs to be taken. The need is not as extreme, (before the reset I was ready to quit the game...there were far too many airlines and not enough territory) but just like before there comes a point when it has to be done. That point is approaching very quickly.
I have several ideas as an alternative, however:
-Expand the airport database
(For example, just in British Columbia and Alberta (where I operate) we only have Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. It was tough to start on a Beech with such limited possiblilities for routes. In reality, we have major destinations like Victoria, Prince George, Kelowna, Lethbridge, Cranbrook, Comox, Fort McMurray, the list goes on. Tons of airlines sharing three routes is terribly unrealistic. (This is not a suggestin of which airports to add, simply an example)
-Fix the existing ones, though the lack of gates at airports leadsback to the first of my points.
(In addition, errors like the incorrect spelling of Ottawa (is Ottowa in AE) would be a plus. One other idea is that the only option given in edmonton is Edmonton Namao......that's the air force base. AE should be using Edmonton International (CYEG)...but why not open up the city airport and places like Red Deer regional (CYQR) as alternatives to spread the traffic around?)
Here's a good one:
Look at the number of bankrupt and defunct airlines on the list. Some without planes, some without routes, some just messing around pullg Michel LeBlanc (Jetsgo CEO) moves cluttering the game up for everyone else. There should be a limit on the airline value that if you drop below it your airline is liquidated and you may not create a new airline for a set period of time.
Of course, proper warnings and assistance ro legitimate players should be provided, but this is a limit to the number of airlines.
Perhaps there might be a cap on the number of signups and those who wish to create accounts join a waiting list. When an airline is liquidated after falling below the value threshold, a new player may join. That way, we can limit players, yet still give everyone an opportunity.
