Okay, so every time an idea here is suggested (with rare exceptions), without fail, some user pops up and tells you to 'use the damn searchbar, it's already been suggested,' or something to the effect of that. I see no point in this really. If it's already been suggested, so what? That really shouldn't stop you from posting it again.

 

Perhaps it'd be better if we just advised people against posting suggestions that are already on the front page of this subforum. That'd make a lot more sense and stop the plague that is 'Use the searchbar'. I see no harm in a suggestion being repeated if it hasn't been repeated in a while.

 

What are your thoughts?

There should be a voting system. A mobile flight simulator, Infinite Flight, does this very well. People choose their idea and people can vote from 1 to (i think) 3 times with a limit of around 20 votes monthly or weekly

I think instead of that the forum should have a poll (not as a part of a topic and seen whenever the forum is opened) with a lot of the suggestions (updated every once in awhile) and they should be voted on by players, with players having as many votes as needed. This helps the developers by giving them real numbers of people who want to see certain thing implemented, possibly encouraging mini-updates. This helps the general community because their voice is heard. This helps posters by giving them a defined list of suggestions NOT to post. In the actual threads, they should be discussions of the ideas, not constant "We should buy other airlines" threads. War Thunder does a good job with this in my opinion, and this could help with the whole second part of this, the suggestion part.

Maybe have the suggestions and features on moderation and keep a pinned post of suggested ideas, thus abating the need for members to encourage suggestors to use the search bar. However that would require effort from the moderation staff and that is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much to ask from some of them
