I'm seeing routes with e.g. 7 demand per week over 300 miles, standard Y price of $176, and 400k total seats being flown with Y prices ranging from $1000-1700. The airlines doing it have more hubs than destinations - and massive amounts of traffic across their networks and alliance.

1) Are connecting pax proportional to the number of hubs you have (and your alliance, natch)?

2) Do hubs not count as destinations? I can't see (m)any un-hubbed destinations on their routemaps.

1) Connecting PAX are not proportional to hubs

2) hubs do not count as destinations if the airline in question does not fly to the airport.

So what's the point having 2x or 3x as many hubs as destinations? And why can't I see any un-served hubs on their route maps?

People often open a few hubs at a time as planning for the future but don't set up a route to some of the hubs for quite a while and often, a hub may be forgotten about altogether

What, and that's why they have 3x the number of destinations? Doesn't stack up.

When spamlining for blue pax, the amount of pax and ticket prices depends on the total traffic of each allied airline WITH HUBS AT THE AIRPORTS. Therefore, running a blue pax strategy for maximal profit requires opening hubs to support alliance members, even when the particular airline does not fly to the airport.
