Not long ago, Lebanon's flag carrier MEA got its monopoly renewed by the government, which means only one thing: they will still remain as the sole Lebanese airline allowed to fly internationally from Beirut. While this might encourage a sense of national pride, other countries in the region are already allowing competition to take place between homegrown airlines.
