The 777, 787, A350, and A380 all prove that the 747 is now obsolete...I haven't run an airline with 744s in years
It's completely avoidable for those who care about other things besides how big our virtual airlines are
Why I dislike flying 747s

True, but what about in the before the 1980s who dominates the trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific market?

I personally prefer the 747SP as it has a maximum of 400 seats, nearly the equivalent of the later A330-200 but with the highest range. I've been using it for super long hauls, from Saudi Arabia to Australia and Saudi Arabia to Los Angeles, with absolutely no issues (and I'm currently the only one flying these routes ).

As I see it the 747 range is the most profitable aircraft range because of the high number of seats. I think "Eastern Air Lines" has either missed out on vast profits from this range of aircraft or has a very different agenda to my
Profit/Marketshare focus.

The 747 is the pinnacle of aviation. That's the truth. From the 60s to now it has been in production and has received over 1,500 orders. This plane was a vital part of aviation history. Maybe it doesn't work with every airline, but any large airline should have some 747s during its time.

I just get my firsts 747-400 on R1 and don't understand what happens:
When i order the aircrafts, after i choose the engines, the sfecifications say:
Range 8,471 mi - Fuel Flow 71,920 Adjusted Range With Winglets 10,298 - Adjusted Fuel Flow With Winglets: 68,324...
Addons
Winglets are required on this aircraft.
So i can't and of course wont order the aircrafts without the winglets...
I receive the first two 744 and.... the Fuel Flow is 68,324 BUT the range is 8,471 mi
Why is this? is normal this thing in the game?
R1 is in 1989 at the moment so don't have other planes with winglets
Some data copy from one of the aircrafts:
Performance Data
Engine Type: FAN
Engines: 4 Rolls-Royce RB211-524G
Thrust: 58,000 pounds
TSFC (Specific Fuel Consumption): 0.31
Fuel Flow: 68,324 (with winglets)
Engine Weight: 9,670 pounds
Speed: 566 knots
Max Payload Range: 8,471 miles
Max Fuel Range: 9,966 miles

I would never consider flying 747s in any of my airlines because I always feared that it would lead to losses due to the overabundance of seats--something that affected Pan Am when it launched the aircraft back in the 70s. In other words, although they hoped the 747s would attract more passengers, this wasn't the case in reality as it was on paper. Also, I think similarly-sized aircraft like the A340 and 777 would be good alternatives. Any thoughts on that?

747's? I would consider not flying them even thought they are the known as the Queen of the Skies.
Let alone the next generations might never be able to fly them

Well I don't like the 747 when it comes to running an airline in AE, instead opting for the 777 and A340.I like the 747 to be honest

I think the 747 is good because it's affordable when you first start your airline and want to move onto bigger aircraft.

Start small go big not start big. 747's are bad at start consider many smaller aircrafts and than expand.

That's what I meant. When you've started your airline and you've done some shorthaul routing, then you move onto bigger aircraft

And that's exactly what I do. I typically prefer worlds starting in 1985 or later and use B737 or A320 planes as starters. That's what I meant. When you've started your airline and you've done some shorthaul routing, then you move onto bigger aircraft

And? I currently make over $20 million daily from 31 destinations using a fleet of 59 aircraft - of which 20 are 747's. Of the 747's,17 of them are the most profitable planes i have with the most profitable making $16m a month. 777 or my A340 can't match them for profits on the same routes.
I run a realistic airline with full service 3 class layouts and free IFS/IFE (although i'm a little heavy on flying hours at the moment)
Totally depends on your market and daily pax per route. Ideal range for a 747 is about 3000miles - on such routes only the A380 is more profitable.

In AE I use 747's on tons of high-density routes. Especially in the US, I just love them. Unavoidable for me. Even if they would be too big I can always reduce the seat count for more legroom.
