Why is there a Max Payload of less than the actual limit?

On a Q300 that I own, I am trying to switch a 737's routes to the Q300, but it says there is a max payload of 27 pax, even though the Q300 should be able to take more. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

The route you're trying to replace probably exceed the Q300's range.  While there is a "max" range an aircraft can theoretically fly, it has to carry less passengers in order to meet that.

Planes can go beyond their stated range if you start reducing the amount of passengers. It's likely that you're trying to switch a route that's longer than the Q300's 629 mile range.

Ohh, ok. That makes a lot of sense now that I think about it. Thank you very much!
