I have an airline in dublin and I want to retire my fleet of 747-400.I use them on routes to NA and Africa and I was wondering what was the best replacement. (note that the runway is too short for a340)

Hardly seems to be a need to retire them given it's only 2002 in that world, but if you really want to I guess try A330/B767/B777 depending on runway requirements, but they're smaller so you'd have to up the frequency

What year is the world? if its 2007 and later A380 is the best choice, i gain more than 5 millions into my DOP after replacing 50 747 with the A380 without adding new routes. but if its haven't reach 2007 then then 777 or A330-300 it is.

If we're talking Dublin in 2002, I'd stick with the 747-400. if it aint broken, don't try & fix it.

As others have said, you should keep those jumbos for many years. They aren't bad after all. Replacing them would be painfully slow

Once A380 and 747-8i start coming out you should start to maybe phase them out in favor of these more efficient planes. But even then, if you have more routes you can grow too you might be better off keeping both the old and new models. They share family with the -8i, so maintenance will not increase too much

I would suggest a A330-300

You do not have to replace them right now

But you should and must add A330-300 to your fleet. It can reach most of USA and Asia and it is very efficient

The other plane I will consider is the Boeing 777-200ER and Boeing 777-300 when it comes out. They can reach South Asia and they are also very efficient

I would never retire a '47-400 until 2020+. If I did retire it earlier, it would be a 777-300ER, or an A380.

Windows 7 is superior, change my mind

Boeing 777-200 LR or Boeing 777-300 ER (General Electric GE-90-110B engines). Is the best replacement for a Boeing 747-400.

Their best replacement in terms of range , fuel efficiency , maintainance costs , and seating capacity (kind of)

On the Airbus part I vote for the Airbus A330-300 and Airbus A340-200

Like all people other said they're not that bad especially if you're replacing them too early in the game. The jumbo's are good if you set them at the right configuration at the right route. :)

Dublins runway wont support a 777-300 of any kind, likewise a340-500/600. Pretty sure the a340-330e will fit though double check that.

If you want 777's then the 200ER is your best bet. The 777-200LR doesnt fit

A330 is perfect for everything out of DUB though given its location.and passenger demand. A350 also very good
