I still think the easiest way to limit spam lines is to limit hubs to 1-4 pending on country.  If you combined that with forced retirement of aircraft at age 30 for example it would go a long way to solve this. In theory at least.

A sound Idea - I think that makes a lot of sense!

Any way to limit planes you can own? Spanline is really not fun at all

The only way to stop spamlines and/or scumlines is to change the behaviour of passengers (to stop scumlines) and fix the connecting passenger bug (to stop spamlines). Artificially imposed limits will be easily dodged by those type of players. For example: an aircraft number limit will only favour the use of 747s and A380s

I like the idea. LCC's aren't anywhere close to spam-lines. LCC's still have to charge a reasonable amount based on the standard costs of operating aircraft and landing fees, etc, so they can't exactly undercut the prices too much because past a certain point they lose money and go bankrupt.

As it is in the real world, LCC's go tits up all the time because their business models don't work as well anymore. Stuff is too costly. You could probably simply issue a cap based on the first cost established on a given route and only allow a certain percentage to be charged below the starting cost. Make it more biased towards IFE and IFS as well as marketing.

I imagine with a few little tweaks you could prevent spammers from ruining the game and ensure people have to actually try and be a legit airline. Those who don't won't last. Than you don't have to ban anyone, you simply make it impossible to thrive.

I like the idea, but it would favor the use of 747s and A380s, and the hub and spoke model. But the title says new world so....

Maye some idea like:

- No aircraft delivery after production end.

- Aircraft maintenance cost increase 10 years after end of production.

- Some 4 engines like A340 must cost more to buy and operate than 2 engines like A330.

- fuel price increase a little each year.

I'm in favor of this.

Since we can't change how AE works I think a way of doing this would be by creating a world that does only allow real world airlines, however, while also removing political restrictions (which will allow fifth freedom routes), but enforcing terminal and gate leasement restrictions. Let's say 10 hubs only and only 5 terminals and else a max of 5 gates in ones country and 2 or 3 gates in other countries.

This would allow Routes like the old PanAm Around the World route or fifth freedom flights from Europe to Australia via Singapore for example.

The rule would be that spamlines wouldn't be allowed in the world and that a realistic approach to building the airlines is encouraged. It'd work on a the principle of good faith that players will follow the rules, but if there is a suspected person we could present the case to a moderator or a gremium which would decide on a case to case basis if the accusations are warranted and then remove and block said player from this world.

On the other hand we could also create a world to which you'd have to be admitted in to.

All this addition of the world would do is create another world for players that would like to have a more realistic approach to the game, while not banning anybody from the already existing ones.

Perhaps adding a buy/lease limit on the used market would reduce the ferociousness of spamlines. Like 5-10 planes for every hour)
