i dont want to use the jets until 1970s bc early jets are gas gazzlers

so what is considered the first "efficient" jet? is it the b737 or b747 or b727? or something else?

i do not consider the b707s fuel efficient.

I'd say the Airbus A300

The Trident 1E(1966) and 2E(1968) are really good. The 2E works out slightly more fuel efficient than the 1E due to the higher speed. I use the 2E for as long as possible due to their speed until I begrudgingly have to replace them due to spiralling  maintenance costs. Normally with 737s or A319/20s in the 90s. <_<

Caravelle 12s also use less fuel, carry more pax and are cheaper than the early 737s. If most of the airports you serve have a runway longer than 8,070ft then they can be a good alternative to 737s :P
