I get it, you play the exploit once as a proof of concept, but why do it ever again? If you remove actual human competition and any sort of creativity the only thing that remains is mindless grind, rinse and repeat. In O2 I can now see Book Siberia building hubs and 200 gate terminals in the middle of the Amazon after splattering green pins all over the east coast of US, after 6 in-game months of this I would have to sit down and take a really hard look on how I spend my time and reconsider my life choices, nevermind the fact that I would be bored to death. We get it, you found a way to get blue pax out of thin air, what's the point of doing it again and again? I remember why I stopped playing in 2011, at the end of the day, however you play it, green or blue, with one hub or with 200, it's a grind, this game needs some serious patching.

 

I never play this game unless I'm doing something else - listening to/watching a program mostly. I totally agree that this game is a grind and would be more fun/interesting with a reboot. That said, such a reboot would be very tough. Real transfer pax with real traffic flows would be a first step. Realistic fuel burn and capital costs would be another. 

 

It's still fun, however, to try to beat my past records. I'm basically playing against myself.

Since this game is meant to be competitive in the sense of total valuation, it stands to reason that any player playing towardsw the  goal of the number 1 rank has to place sufficient volume to achieve this.

 

In O2, I am far behind the number 1 and number 2 airlines.  And slightly behind #3 currently.

 

As to the grind aspect, that's your perception of the essentially repetitive nature of placing an ever increasing number of routes in an effort to beat the other competitors.  But I happen to be hyper-competitive and am always highly motivated to excel while competing.  Thus for me, it isn't a grind.

Book Siberia - I've tried your trick of building and selling terminals, I could really use up to 800 gates on some of my routes. How often is this successful? It seems like either the terminals never showed up for sale or someone else bought them? I can't imagine who else wants 200 gates at an airport like BFI...

 

Specifically, I haven't seen the gates come up for sale in the Manage Terminals section. What's the typical delay after selling before you're able to buy them?

Once you sell a terminal, it should show up immediately.

I think I see your problem.

 

If you really want 800 gate terminals, you must either a) decide in advance to create multiple 200 gate terminals and sell each one right after creating them BEFORE you start putting routes on them,or b)remove all routes first then sell the terminal, create as many more 200 gate terminals as you want and sell them each in turn, THEN buy them all back.

 

If you already have a 200 gate terminal and have routes/flights on it, then you cannot sell or demolish a terminal until  all pre-existing flights and routes touching that airport are removed first.

 

That's why for all practical purposes you must decide in advance if you want more than 200 gates at an airport and then construct and sell those terminals in sequence until you have as many as you need, and then buy all of them back to create a 800 (or whatever) gate mega-terminal.

I actually did remove all flights and then try to build/sell. From certain airports I'm doing 10,000 frequencies all on the same aircraft type to one destination, so it isn't that cumbersome to just close the route and then redeploy the aircraft. Takes about 5 minutes. Worth it if I could quadruple available slots on certain routes.
