Hi Guys!

I'm trying to find out about the first airplane ever built that had a cabin and the first ever to be used as a commercial plane in airlines transporting passengers.

Every time I google it all that comes up is the wright brothers :( and some websites say it was the de Havilland Comet and others differ.

Anybody know which was?

I know the Douglas DC-3 was a major factor in revolutionizing air transport in the '30's.

Thanks :)
I just found out that there were DC-1 and 2 flying commercially to.

I don't like it when people can't get history right. If you learn European history in three different countries one will tell you that the French did something while the others will tell you that the Portugese or Germans or Italians or Croatians or the british did that exact thing XD

The first commercial air service was back in 1914, when an auction was held for a ticket from St. Petersburg to Tampa. The plane wasn't too different from the Wright brother's, with only two seats in total. (Link to source: http://www.firstflig...mercial-flight/)

DC-1 never launched per se (only one built, sold to TWA, then crashed). DC-2 would be the first mass-produced DC-series plane.

In terms of designed to be an airliner with an enclosed cabin and not just a one-off conversion, the Airco DH16 would have to be up there
