During the presentation of the yearnumbers today in Paris KLM CEO Van Wijk
confirmed the conversion of 4 of it's outstanding 772ER orders to 773ER.
Van Wijk also mentioned that neither Embraer or Bombardier should hope for a big order. AFKL is waiting for something really revolutionary to replace it's
Fokkers and BAe's. "a regional 787".
AFKL won't order any 787 or A350 in the near future, although it was clear from mr Spinetta's speech that the question is not "if" AFKL will operate 787/A350 in the future but "when".
He said they simply don't have enough information at this time, especially from Airbus side about the A-350 but also about the 787.
That is info from the presentation of the yearnumbers, so quite some time ago, but i thought that I post it anyway....
KLM and its fleet future....

Just read that the first 773ER will be arriving early 2008, the next 2 777's will be -200ER's, arriving in 2007. Furthermore they are now looking into giving the 773ER's at KLM and Air France the same configuration, although it seems a bit strange, considering KLM doesn't have 1st class...

I heard plans of making the 748, 772, 773 and 78X interchangeble for pilots, so with the same cockpit. This is what a close friend of mr. De Haan told me

I can see in 10 years KLM's fleet being:
772(getting phased out by 788/789)
332
748/380
I agree, but I do think they should replace the 332s with 788/9s. I still can't wait until they return service to MSP, but that's not very likely. I remember in my Elementary school days looking up in the sky after recess and seeing the blue 747. Ah, the good days of aviation.

Just thought i would update this:
KLM will be receiving 4 B777-300ER over the next 2 years to increase capacity on some of its best long-haul routes.
Be interesting to see how KLM works with these 4 aircraft and how they plan to integrate it with its Boeing 777-200ER fleet, in which they would match demand with the right aircraft.. still think they should buy more, but hey, i dont run KLM.. so.. :sdrool:

I don't think a380 is going to work for KLM. Holland issn't big enough:D I think KLM wil carry people far or to there final destenation.
Somthing about KLC: First Rekkof whas supposed to update KLC's fleet with new f70 and f100. KLM later chose for some EMB:(

True, but they get passengers fed into Amsterdam from Northwest. Northwest does fly from a lot of cities direct to Amsterdam, so that's a first choice for a lot of people.
