I choose the one with the most passengers load so that I can move more passengers in one metal body.
Best starter aircraft?

One way of looking. Not always the best but can be. Also, what pricey expenses does the A320 have?

tbh it depends what world you are in.
R0 could be anything, but I prefer the Viking.
R1 and O2 would be the Douglas DC-7.
R2 would be the 727-200.
RAlpha and S3-A would be the 737-200Adv, though the Trident could be another option.
R3 would be the 737-200Adv, though the DC-9-50 isn`t a bad option either.
S3-B, S2, R4, R7, O1, R5 and ROmega would be the MD-83, though the 737-300 isn´t too bad.
S1 and S3-C would be the A320, but the 737-400 and aren't horrible ideas.
R6 would probably be a tossup between the A320 and the 737-800.
I agree with this selection, it really depends on what realm you are playing since that defines the starting options. Congrats WAZZ, the most complete answer in this topic so far.

What,I typically try to get asap is a Il96-300,it has a pretty good range (7,131 mi) and a monthly lease of 611,111$,the 300 max seats is enough to have some F,C and Ys,the maintenance costs are ridiculously cheap at 165,00$ for a brand new and 236,478 for a 9.5yo one and the base maintenance cost is cheaper than a 737-100.Getting it in early game enables you so much possibility until you can afford the bigger planes and longer range planes.I currently have a fleet of 100 of those and I'm getting to around 21,000,000$ in maintenance cost.
