I "felt" that way in the beginning too. But the longer I play, the more I appreciate them. For instance the world I'm playing in now is full of them as most are. I have my eye on 3 airports I wanna control, that are currently "owned" by spamlines. I've had to devise my own strategies to slowly "take" these airports from the spamlines, and it is working (slowly). Seems no different to me than say Jetblue deciding to try to make Dallas Love a focus city......Since WN pretty much owns that place, B6 would have to come up with an appropriate business plan to operate out of there profitably. What's the diffence? I personally wish everyone's opinions on spamlines were different, as I feel it adds an extra level of "challenge" to the game. They make the game so much more interesting than just logging in 4 or 5 times a day, buying a few planes, setting up a few routes for them, then repeating over and over. Spamlines make you "think" about what you're doing!

 

While we're on the subject, I know there are 2 schools of thought on this subject here, but why is it that EVERY alliance demands that your airline be realistic, no spam-lines, etc? Wouldn't it be a better idea if there were alliances set up so that people could choose one no matter what their playing style was?

I would like to see a more realistic corporate model with external shareholders expecting dividends and a return on capital employed. The ability to borrow money on favorable terms and flat lease rates and easy ability to lease aircraft make things too easy. Having to pay dividends would do wonders to the game as would a more realistic demand model.
