because there is no real penalty for running aircraft into their 20's in AE you can run them from game start to game end for most of the worlds, but in real life i think 20 years is about the going rate, although some wide bodies get scrapped way before this.

I once ran 39 year old q400s. But irl, the oldest a plane in Europe is allowed to be without modification is 30, so if you're before this, you're relatively realistic.

I replace my fleet when they're at the 8-12 year mark. I like keeping a young fleet.

Don't these 25 year old aircrafts lower down your airline reputation significantly?

Replace them when the world restart. You need to capitalized the frame as long as possible.

I would introduce into the game limitations on how many years an aircraft can fly without "revision" or "upgrading". So, for example, there could be a regulation by country saying that all aircrafts that are older than 25 years require to be "refurbished" and the owner will need to spend a one time sum of money to "refurbish" the aircraft so it can run for another 20 years. The price could be the same as buying again that aircraft brand new or similar.

That would be easy to implement (just some "refurbish" button available on the aircraft menu once it hits 25 years) and will make it more realistic, as currently there's no incentive to replace them :)

The only incentive to replace them is lower maintenance costs, but a few billion outlay to reduce a few million in maintenance isnt exactly worth it.

I wont mention the game but a competitior lets say has an aircraft condition %, and the more cycles an aircraft does or the older it gets the more money you have to pump into it to keep the percentage up and flyimg in tip top condition.

If the aircraft condition drops too much then this has an effect on punctuality and even cancelled flights are more frequent.

I would like to see a similar setup in AE, where you have to spend a good bit to keep old birds airworthy
