As a person who actually gets paid to code things... I'm going to rely on what I actually know vs your opinion.

Ouch, that hurts....  I won't bore you with details of my day job, suffice to say it's a knowledge based opinion.

If AE4 is not being built in a modular, containerised way maybe using Docker for the software components and Beanstalk to manage the infrastructure then the it's already dead.

How many weeks (months) did we see loooong wait times to do things like modify a route?, how many times did you see the nginx proxy error message? How long did it take to fix and what was the fix? move to a bigger server. All bad. bad. bad. so if AE4 has the same development philosophy it will look nice, but fall flat after a few months. Then we can start talking about AE5  :P

Some parts of the code came before I even joined ae under AE1... I think the current status, and Yuxi can correct me if I'm wrong, it's a hodge podge of code from years upon years tangled together. (We're talking maybe legacy code from 2003). Now, a lot has been rewritten, but I think we AE4 we're getting an pretty major code rewrite for more scalability in being able to add things. Maybe I'm over dramatizing how much of a cluster**** it is as I've not actually seen it... But the fact that airports like Dallas Love can't easily be fixed to mimic real world restrictions is a bit disappointing and can attest to the mess that it, the code, likely is.

What does this have to do with AE4 release date.

I've jumped on AE on and off now for a few years. AE4 has been "being worked on" for at least five years, I think. I think a better spinoff competitor will come around before AE5, though I hope that's not true.
