Never tried it, but why openttd, when you have cities in motion series? For the freight traffic?

In my opinion there is not such game as OpenTTD. It ha a complexity in the simulation that none of the recent games are even near.

Cities in motion is very good but is limited to passengers and city transport.

With OpenTTD you have to manage signals and build track to make your network fast and efficient.

And there is a lot of mods that give you a different and better experience every time.

It works even on Android.

I still play with it sometimes.

Good point, but why not try Train Fever then?

Train fever is very limited. It had the potential to mimic OpenTTD, but fell through quite badly in that regard. As for servers and people playing it from AE, I still maintain the 24/7(ish) server [tin01] - but now it's using the stable yet heavily modified OpenTTD version by JGR. We have a mix of AE/non-AE people nowdays, but with a unified focus on realism.

I do myself play OTTD Regularly both on my own computer for myself, but also together with fellow AE Members like Tintin.

I've made a London underground system before on Openttd. It really is a bitch to operate, but there are virtually endless opportunities for play.
