The A340 is the only airbus plane that looks good, and the 777 is one of the uglier Boeings (imo) so ill take the A340. Plus I've flown on one of those but never a 777.

Fly a 777. your opinion will change. 340 is so much louder, and it just isn't as good. plus, aging cabins won't help it's case.

I agree, the 777, especially the 300ER for many airlines, is so much better than the A340s, as those are a lot older, and might have old cabin design and old entertainment systems.
I've flown Eva Air's 777-300ER, which was so much better than China Airlines's A340-300 (Now retired).

i blame most of the interior comfort stuff on the airline rather than the airplane, so this was just a judge of looks to me.

I dislike both. But I much prefer 8 abreast to 9 or 10. So A340 it is for me on night flights.
