I have just got my Vc-10's delivered and have put them on a 4000mile route with the prices just a little up from the suggested, both classes are full 8c 138y with both having a profitable ifs. but it still losses money. I think this is down to the bizarre 53k fuel flow that it apparently had. I know the conways werent that good but they were better than the pratt and whitneys at the time due to its more modern turbofan technology.

anyone else have this issue?

Well I do happen to know that the VC-10 did burn a little more fuel that the 707 because old BOAC's requirement for hot and high performance however it was better in that it didn't need anywhere near as much runway to take off even though on here it's about the same so everyone orders 707s instead.

Yeh, I know it would be somewhat higher but not almost 50%. and good point about the runway thing, I know a VC10 development engineer who said the standard could take off from the old brooklands runway which was about 1800m I think including the extra curve bit,

I hope AE devs can shed some light
