Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. Where can I find the manual?

A. Within AirWiki. Update your bookmarks, it is at: http://www.airlineempires.net/airwiki

Q. This game looks cool. How do I sign up?

A. At this moment, sign up is open. It is not always open and please repect that. Signup page's link is available on the login page

Q. I want a gate at CDG, but there are none left.

A. Look around for someone that has a CDG gate they can trade, wait for a CDG gate to become free or build a terminal.

Q. When will miller add new airports?

A. When he finds some free time, he normaly adds new cities. Remember he has a life outside AE.

Q. I want miller to add SXB now!

A. Miller will add the airports he wants in their due time. Now if miller added all the airports we wanted when we wanted, I'd already would have a major hub in VCV. It is planned that all airports that handle more than 100,000 people per year will be included in the game.

Q. I have an MD-11 with 22 hours and the range to do ONT-NRT but when I go to crate the route, it tells me it can't.

A. There is a little check box above Continue that says round trip. Unclick that and continue.

Q. Do I have to do a return flight with a round trip?

A. No

Q: Does ticket price affect load factor?

A: Yes, ticket price affect load-factor. The lower the price, the higher the load factor. Keep in mind that flying full aircraft won't give you maximum profits.

Q: Whats the range of the J-31?

A. It is around 650 miles.

Q: How can I rename my airline?

A: At this moment you can not. The closest thing you can do is change your logo to reflect the desired name or desired presentation.

Q: I put my aircraft on the market; how can I get it back?

A: Your aircraft should be on top of the used aircraft page. Click Edit and select Delist Aircraft. If you don't see the edit link, it may be a bug.

Q. What is depreciation?

A. It is a bit hard to understand if you don't know about accounting or business. In its simplest form, depreciation is the loss in value of a object (airplane) due to its use.
To find a better account of how AE depreciation works, read this thread.

Q. I see a lot of private sales in my used aircraft page, but when I click to view one it says "You do not have access to this private sale."

A. It can be one of two things. One, that a little bug is preventing you from seeing the aircraft for sale. Ask the other airline to reoffer the aircraft to you. Make sure the correct airline id is being used. The other thing is that two airlines sharing the same IP can not sell aircraft to each other.

Q. What is a Airline ID #, and how do i figure mine out?

A. The Airline ID # is a special number that represents your airline. It is in chronological order of when you regestered. If you se yorself in the rankings, click your name and in the address bar you should see "...php?player=19" 19 is this airlines id number. Also, you can search in the 'place this aircraft for sale' page under (search)

Q. I sold a SF-340 for $2,000,000, and it is telling me that I got -$1,000,000 in my aircraft sales account.

A. Don't worry, more than likely you got your full $2,000,000. The aircraft sales account records the net profit or net loss from the aircraft you have sold. Because you sold your SF-340 under its value, it will post a loss. There is a bug where sometimes you are not correctly debited with money

Q. Is miller a guy?

A. Yes

Q. Where can I find more info on BBcode?

A. here

Q. Where did my thread go?

A. Once in a while, a thread will be placed in the wrong forum. When this happens the moderators will move the thread to its respective forum. Sometimes they will keep a link on the original forum linking to the thread. Another reason that you might not be able to see your thread is because the thread was inappropriate and was deleted.

Q. Where did my post go?

A. If it did not serve any good purpose, it was deleted. Posts to insult people or just spam posts will be deleted in order to keep the forum clean. Or your post might have been moved someplace elce.

Q. I didn't post this thread, what happened?
I never saw this thread, what happened?

A. The thread was split. If a thread topic changes, a moderator might split the thread and have it be another thread so the original thread can be.

Q. I'm having trouble. Every time I try to use bbcode in Press Releases, they don't work.

A. Try using html. Its quite the same as bbcode.

<b>Bold</b>
<i>italics</i>
<img src="pic's location"> Pictures
<hr> horizontal line; seperate a quote from main post

Q: Airline "X" has an aircraft up on the market for more than 200% of its value! Is he a hax0r?

A: At this moment its probably a little bug. The 50 - 200% value thing only applies at the moment an airline is selling an aircraft. If this aircraft depreciates while on the market, only the market value will change.

Q: How does bankruptcy work?

A: If you find your airline falling, or just don't like it's functioning, you can declare bankruptcy. What does it do? It resets your airline and gives you $5,000,000 in cash. It won't give you gates or a free choice in aircraft as the game does when you sign-up. Just what do you do? First, either sell-off or mothball your aircraft. Second, release all your gates. Third, declare bankruptcy.

Q. Miller said that he would include aircraft like the DC9-10 and the 737-500, where are they?

A. These aircraft are going to be included, just that they aren't yet. Check this thread for some more info.

Q. I created a route and it doesn't show it on the routemap. What is up?

A. Here are some options:
  • Wait till it updates by itself.
  • Try a fourced refresh, Ctrl+F5 or Ctrl+Shift+Refresh. (usually won't work)
  • Log out. Close the current window. Open a new one and log back in.

Q. I found a bug!

A. Chances are that someone has found the same one. You should post it in the bugs forum. Remember check the already existing threads before you post something so we don't have the same bug posted twice. Here is a short list of current threads about known bugs.

Just some posts that might be of interest for new airlines because you guys really don't like the search feature and the Announcments boards:

Q. How do I add text after my posts automaticaly.

A. By adding a signature

*login to your account
*go into 'control panel / options'
*hit edit profile
*all the way at the bottom there is a box called signature
*here is where you can add the text that follows every post.
*you want to put your pictures url here.jpg to post the picture
*If your pic is too large you should add size restrictors to it. say your picture is 500x200, you at least want to get it under a height of 400.
*to porportinaly decrease the size of the picture, divide its size by a number like two. that will give you 250x100
*now add that to the pictures url and it should look like this 250x100your pictures url here.jpg[/img]
*you can also use Photoshop or your favorite photo editor to change its size.
*make sure you upload it to a site that ALLOWS you to post it some place elce ot you will get a blank picture
*please don't steal other people bandwith

Just to clarify, you're saying the only benefit from opening the hub is increased passenger traffic?

Yes, but the most benefit of a hub would be derived from having lots of long haul flights from ur hub!!! :)

I'll prob get a Noob alert from Natheniel... anyways here it goes

I have a beech going form SAN to PHX and that took 11 hours away from my plane. Now i have 11 hours left and I tried to make a flight from SAN to LAX but it won't let me. COnsidering that I'm starting from the same airport, SAN, wouldn't it be able to make that flight? ie spend first portion of the day flying san-phx and then the second half SAN-lax?

No it's too long a route for that aircraft. You could still do those routes if you want, just make them one way.

I hope your actually making money on this route.

Yeah, a tip for you is put your beechcraft on short routes, (e.g. less than 2 hr flight) and make a large number of frequencies, you'll make alot more that way. This game takes alot of patience, you have to sit for about a week after you put your beeches on those short routes and do nothing. You'll make money this way, especially if beech planes are all you've got.

Unfortunately, you can not by a plane (new or used) with credit! You have to have enough money in the bank to be able to pay AT LEAST 50% of the plane if new, or 100% of the plane in the 2nd hand market!

Yes, but even then, if you have more debt then credit, you can't buy gates:o. You as a senior member should know that:cool:

Let state it as follows: You can buy as many aircraft as you want, as long as you at the moment of ordering them has cash enough to pay the downpayment(50%). It doesn't really matter if you can afford to pay the rest when they are delievered (if they're ever delievered ;)), you'll just go into deep debt but you'll never be forced into bankruptcy, no matter what.

Gates are a little bit different. You can buy new gates as long as your debt is smaller than your credit, and the difference between is larger than the gate cost. Even if you go into deeper debt after that, the gates will still be yours.

So, in a nutshell, if you have negative cash (i.e. debt) you cannot order new aircraft, or purchase used aircraft. If you have a debt greater than your credit you cannot rent new gates.

Q. Fleet commonality, does it exist?

A.

Originally posted by miller22 on July 26, 2005
Actually there is a benefit to common fleet types. You'll get up to a 25% reduction in operating costs depending on how many of a certain type of aircraft you operate. Just recently I included fleet commonality between different fleet types, such as the 737-600, 737-700, -800, and -900.

I may have missed something but I am trying to put an aircraft up forsale on the market but it says there can't be any price gouging and that you can only sell a plane from 1,663,895 up to 6,665,580 but I am selling it for 5,000,00. Am I doing something wrong?
The plane is a J-31.
