The bottom line is, it's simply not realistic for the game to limit the number of players just so you can make more money. In real life, large established airlines have to deal with new start-ups everyday. There is no legally-imposed limit on how many airlines can exist in the world. The world's population, supply and demand, and the nature of competitive business will take care of that. It's survival of the fittest. If you can beat the newbies, then you have nothing to worry about. If you can't, then maybe it's time to step down.

I know exactly what you mean. Instead of having 2000+ airlines in one world, you could limit the number of airlines per world. It wouldn't resetrict anybody from anything, only that the server would assign them a world based on number of airlines. Eventually you may end up with three or more worlds. I'm not sure that the server would be able to handle that amount of data. The database server crashed and reset the other day. What are the chances of that happening again with the larger volume of data it will have to deal with?

Next to none. The impact of this new feature would be VERY minimal (one more byte of data for each member - maybe less) considering that we're talking about just one more digit (or two if there's enough players) per player.

compuXP is right, it won't have very much impact on bandwidth or server usage...just need to wait for word from Miller lol

Yea it'd certinally make things a lot more organized. I do hope Miller will do this in spite of just how busy he is with all of his wonderful work he does for us AErs. :)

This is a cool idea!!! This would also fix problems with big changes happening while we are asleep and the other half of the world is awake.

yes, but aren't most of the players in the us and canada? If that's true, then that wouldn't be that much help

I think the problem is more that you have no clue about what the heck you're doing.


Different worlds... sure it would make it easier to get a bigger profit. But where is the fun in that? People whining that the rules of a game should be changed so they can win should stick to monopoly.

Not choosing your location? Guys please. So I'll be forced to compete with my friends rather than have one take EU, one take USA and one China and form an alliance? Just because some people whine?

Maybe you should look first. The last post before your reply was more than 4 years ago. Alot has changed since then :eureka:

Deregulation allows for competion right. The question here is how does the auto price pick one at 1200 and the new comers only get 250? I don't see the reasoning, are all routes a set number of pax and you can't take other airlines pax? What is the game logic on routes?

Wether you get 1200 or 250$ per seat doesn't matter at all. It is what you get in total that matters, not how much you can steal from another airline...

Sorry, but if I have to chose between getting 100k on a route with no competition, or stealing 50k from Lurch, but losing money, I chose the no competition.

I like your idea, but i still like to do both. mainly, if i can steal passengers and lose money but on another route i make the money i lost and more; i will do both. :P

Yeah, but probably not before you reached your first 10 mil per gameday :P

Starting out, you need to make profit, or competing with another company will only bring yourself down.
Out of 931 routes, I have not 1 that is going in the red, even on the ones where I do compete with some people, and only now where I don't really know what else to spend my money on, it comes to mind that I could do that too :D
