Personally, I think it would be REALLY COOL if you had the ability to design and manfacture custom plane designs in-game. That way, you wouldn't have to waste money buying planes, AND you could make money selling of some of them.

It costs billions of dollars to design a plane... it would be impossible ever to earn back and generally a huge waste of money in airline empire's economy

its based on realism, reality very few airlines even get a say in a aircraft design until the final stages aka things like what first class items they want to see

I love this idea, but realism factors and keeping gameplay fair outweighs the novelty and appeal. I'd rather not have to compete against spamlines with extra-long-range, STOL 1000-seater birds.
