What is your favourite airliner that started its production run

before 1980?

Personally, I must say the evergreen Douglas DC-9, in particular the cuter

little -10 & -20's. Not only are the cute as ****, but they have also proved themselves

as some of the most durable aircraft on the globe, with 49 year old examples still

flying passengers daily in poorer countries, and the pilots often comment on

how surprisingly reliable they still are.

The ever-Sexy Concorde, too.

Seeing as you didn't give me much to go on, here are some of my favourites:
DC 9 (all of them, particularly the -30 and -50), 737-200, the 747 (-100 and -200), A300, Short 330/360/ Skyvan and Fokker 27 (revolutionised props). I could not choose a favourite though...

Antonov An-26. Used to fly it really frequently when it was still on Agaaryn Teever. Most reliable turboprop which MIAT used from the seventies to 2008. It was still really dang comfy the last time I was on it.

Dc-9-30 only.
I like the CL-44 Yukon. Shame it's only available till 1970 without deferral tricks.

My choice, which probably reflects my age, would be the Vickers Viscount / Vanguard in service from 1959 - 1996.

I forgot the Viscount! As well as being immensely successful it was also beautiful. Virgin Atlantic had it flying into Dublin back in the late 80s...
