These two companies are neck and neck when it comes to sales. Boeing just seems to have more fanboys on the parts of the internet that I know. But fanboys don't matter in the aircraft manufacturing industry. I think, even customer sales (although they play a role in gauging which is better) aren't 100% a reliable factor in determining which is better since they are affected by marketing and/or political/corporate patrons. "Better" though is a very vague concept when it comes to the technicalities of planemaking, so I can't really say.

Airbus are better regarding the A320/737, A330/767 and A380/747, but Boeing are better regarding 777/A340. I believe that the A350/787 race is very close, but I'll have to wait until the A350 enters passenger service before I make my decision.

You seem to have forgotten McDonnell Douglas.

eastwind McDonell is worse than airbus and boeing.

McD has got only MD 11 and MD 95.

They dont have as many operators as boeing or airbus.

It wasn't worse when Americas leading airlines fell for them in the 1990s. McDonnell made the MD80 series which was a main competitor with Airbus A320 series and Boeing 737 series.

Airbus seems to suffer quite a few autoflight issues, yet all their planes tend to suffer less problems starting out, rather than Boeing with rudder hardovers and battery failures.

Personally I like Boeing but it is just related to the fact I like manual flight more, they're from America, and I like their history more.

There is something called an "opinion". They don't have to be the same as yours.

I hope you've learnt something new today.

Interesting to watch...

I'm not saying that Airbus is better (we don't know if they're hiding something), but after the 787 my faith in Boeing has diminished. From what I know, Airbus' problems with the A380 were mainly in engineering. Boeing's problems with the 787 was mostly moral.

Boeing is generally preferred by flight crews for the ease of flight, more input and the fact Boeings tend to be more powered.

Airbus' are more modern however really take the pilot out of the game, it also requires more info for the MCDU and their aircraft are more sluggish

Clearly Tupolev is the best.

Depends on what they are used for. Tupolev is best used for short and medium haul routes, but are terrible in long haul ones. My favorite fact about Tupolev aircraft is that they can operate short and medium haul interchangeably quite easily, and when early in the game they can be quite fuel efficient too. However, they can become obsolete easily, especially compared to McDonnell Douglas, Boeing, and Airbus. Even then they keep their edge in long-haul regional flights. But overall, Boeing is best used with long haul flights (767) and for large airports (AMS, JFK, Heathrow, etc). The same goes for Airbus.

Boeing is best in the 777/A330 and 340, Airbus has a better domestic aircraft line, I would use the Airbus A319-100 for domestic and the Boeing 7770-300 for long haul.
