I normally fly US Airways since i live in the Charlotte area and never have had a connecting flight as far as i remember but this is my first time flying united and flying into O'Hare so I'm not quite sure how busy and likely it is i will have a delay. I haven't heard really good things about united airlines but anyways My flight leaves Charlotte at 4:49pm and arrives in O'hare at 6:03pm and my flight to Erie leaves at 7:50pm. So my main questions are

1:Will i catch any good sights during my lay over like a 787 or 747-8?

2:How busy is it during this time... like how long normally are the waits for take off ect...

3:Was united a bad choice?

4:Will i be on time or most likely delayed or canceled?

5: and will i have enough time to make my connecting flight?

1. Hard to say, but you won't see INTL flights in either terminal you go through.

2. ORD is always busy

3. United is fine, they have zero service anymore, though.

4. No way to answer this.

5. 1:47 is plenty of time to make the connection...you will probably have to change terminals to get on the regional service to Erie.

You might end up seeing international departures from both terminals. T5 handles all the arrivals, and it's a bit away from the domestic terminals, but I'd say you'd have a decent chance of seeing something at T3 (Oneworld members) or T1 (Star members). There are quite a few B763 and A330 departures in that sort of time frame, with perhaps a sprinkling of UAL 777 and 747 (maybe) departures to Europe, etc.

I haven't flown out of ORD in years, though, so I can't vouch for being on-time, etc.

1: depending on the time, yes. Heavies usually fly in from the west, you can spot them from the T1 pier. If any of the  Lufthansa flights are there, they will be parked in T1.

2: pretty busy. They are still reeling from the ATC fire in Aurora.

3: No. US was too expensive through PHL? and you couldnt have gone through EWR?

4: If it is a regional flight on ORD-ERI, maybe. I think CLT-ORD is mainline. Let me check ...

United 411- CLT to ORD is on time.

United 4723 - ORD to ERI is on time.

5: Depends. Yes imo.

I forgot about the fire at Chicago Center. I'd say your chances of being delayed in the next month are a bit higher than normal.

No Q400? You're missing out… I see no reason there should be problems transferring in that time.
