The airline industry is booming again and an airline executive asks for your ideas on a luxurious 747-400. I'll start
with mine:

Create "Rooms" that are as long as 2 regular seats and contain a bed, TV, and curtains. Put 4 of these across the plane in rows.

At the back of the plane convert the last 8 rooms into 4 suites by doubling their size, adding a desk, longer bed, and maybe a mini-fridge.

On the upper deck create a viewing lounge with comfy sofas and free drinks being offered, and set it up to be easily converted into an exclusive dining room in the evening.

At the nose, create a small drink and snack stand where guests can also print boarding passes and get help for other things.

If the cargo hold is available for conversion, I would move some of the rooms down into it, and expand the room-level lounge into a new viewing area. On the upper deck I would then either create a mega-suite or a restaraunt to fill the space of the old viewing area.

What would you do?

For a private 747, I would have my main suite on the 2nd floor, and on the first I would have a bar towards the nose, a small gym towards the rear, and in between, 2 guest rooms and maybe a cinema...

Not feeling very creative at the moment, I might have another go later.

This thread could not be more appropriate for what I'm working on at the moment!! :awesome:

Here are a couple of 747 business jet floor plans:

I'm working on a 747 house design, using the shell of a 747. At the moment i'm thinking suites/apartments in the nose, tail and upper deck, each with their own ensuite, walk in robes in the upper deck and tail suites, and potentially a kitchenette/bar upstairs to create a fully serviced miniature apartment! Plus there'd be a guest suite located aft but before the tail suite.

I'd like to include some sort of cinema that uses the old squishy first class seats, a library/study with fold out bed (spare room) and put the laundry and service areas in the cargo holds. The central/above wing space with be the main living area opened up with sunlights, including a bar and kitchen, and the exits to the over wing deck area etc

For the nose, guest and tail suites i'd strap balconies to D1R, D4L and D5R with pairs of seats and an umbrella, while one wing would be partially covered in decking to support and alfresco eating area. D1L and D5L would serve as private suite entrances/exits and would be equipped with stairs, as would the lobby at D2L, and the "back doors" at D2R and D4R

The rear suite would use the existing lavatory and galley space and convert it into a huge walk in wardrobe. A central bathroom would separate this and the main bedroom space. Curtains would cover the exits, one of would would lead onto a balcony, the other down a flight of stairs and off the aircraft. This gives you an idea of what the rear tail suite may look like:

I'll definitely need a balcony for the upper deck apartment, and maybe water slides down to the pool as well :P

It'll be 747 hostel style, but a lot classier:

Lounge and bar on 2nd floor would be good, then master suite in the nose section, then I would put around 20-30 first class suite (Similar to SQ or Etihad First Class Suites)

And also some dining area + entertainment area on the back of the plane with additional hot tub for sexy time  :P
