I personally prefer Allegiant. While their routes are extremely limited, and their service is sort of controversial, I like to see them as Spirit Airlines with slightly better service.

Sure, they may have a lot of cancellations and delays, since they fly to airports in the middle of nowhere, but then again, if you're near one of those airports, it gets rid of the stress of going through a busy airport. I arrived 90 minutes before an Allegiant flight to LAS, and though the flight would eventually be nearly full, the lines at the check-in counter and security were really short.

If this was 5 years ago, I'd say AirTran. They were really competitive with Southwest, fare-wise, and they had satellite radio. Southwest is also nice, but I've found that half the time I look at SWA fares (in advance), one of the legacies is cheaper.

A lot of people may disagree with me, but I consider jetBlue less of an LCC as it was in the past. JetBlue and SWA have the issue of a more senior workforce, so more costs, though they have good service. Granted, I can't judge jetBlue, as I haven't flow them (just looked at fares).

I haven't personally fly most of them, but from my knowledge, JetBlue are the one who got the best reputation, most people i know told me JetBlue are their favourite, so they're in the lead now

When I visited the US I had the opportunity to fly on jetBlue, and wow! Service was great, fleet was new. Plus they gave complimentary snacks & drinks, and provided free satellite TV! :)

Really would not count Virgin America as a low-cost carrier...

Really would not count Virgin America as a low-cost carrier...

But really, they are. If anything, think of it as Sir Richard Branson's take on JetBlue: lower fares, more plushiness and lots of amenities to make the skies friendly again!
