What's going on? It happens now that most of the major airfields haven't had gates available for a LONG time!

It's a symptom of passenger demand being too high in Airline Empires vs. real world. We run out of gates before we run out of profitable routes.

I say it's because planes deliver too quickly. Spamlines can make massive money at the very beginning, and that money goes into financing more planes and gates. After 10 or 15 years space opens up because airlines build terminals.

But not in this world, with only one terminal per airline there is no expansion possible beyond each individual's hub.

Gates are freed from time to time when inactive airlines are shutdown, you just need to be patient.

You can always fly to other airports with plenty of gates first before gates in the airport you want are freed.

Gate limitation is what slows down spamline expansion; the developer may think it is the aircraft delivery rate, but he hasn't played for a while.

Keep in mind that what is easy for you, will be even easier for spamlines; what is hard to you, will be even harder for spamlines.

I was the one who suggested the delivery rate was responsible. And Yuxi does have airlines. Once a slot based system is implemented in AE4 there should be less problems, as airlines flying daily to 1 destination (for example an Icelandic airline in BOS) will use 7 times less space.

When you open a terminal this releases the gates you had. Since each player can only have one terminal in this game you only get to release gates once. The game was designed to be like it is. As someone has said keep checking as when players resign their airline or go bankrupt or are weeded as inactive gates will become available

LOL, I certainly hope expansion is limited by capital rather than gate availability in AE4.

I have suggested a contract system, in which airlines sign a virtual contract and pay 6 month's lease at the beginning, like when leasing a plane. This wouldn't apply to your home city.
