This is a FRIENDLY competition to see who is the smartest AE player in the math category .

It's pretty simple I give a question ... You solve it .... Take a picture or screenshot ...... Post it on this thread
The fist 4 people to provide the correct response WITH WORK will move on to round to ..
This process continues until we have 1 person left standing ..

Here goes: D can be crossed out right away. Its linear eqn.

 

(9√x) – 10 = (3√x) + 2 ,

(9√x) – (3√x) = 10 + 2 ,

6√x = 12,

 √x = 12/6. Then squaring both sides gives x=4. Hence B the answer.

I don't know why I even dared to solve this simple math.

 

In mathematical problems like this one here, I prefer to assume the value of x with the given choices. For those of you in the knows of mathematics, I am merely doing a checking method. 

 

Since B and C are the most common answers in tests, I chose to start with b (also that it is easy to square).

 

 

Assume x = 4

 

9(√4) - 10 = 3 (√4) + 2

9 (2) - 10 = 3 (2) + 2

18 - 10 = 6 + 2

8 = 8.

 

Therefore, B is the correct answer.

Hmm, an obvious flaw with this is I can just copy the others' answers.
