Senior Officers:
Owner/Captain: Colin Kerr ((Amtran))
Born into money (his ancestors were part of the first 300 American settlers in Texas, and eventually his branch of the family became influential investors in the Kansas City  Southern Railroad) on December 28, 1959, Colin's life was set for the Ivy League, and a career in the management of the Kansas City Southern. But Colin wanted adventure, not content with staying in one place. With the US railroad industry declining, he attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy, and afterwards, had a long career as a civil service mariner, culminating with becoming the Captain of a Military Sealift Command Hospital Ship. After retiring in late 2013, Kerr packed his bags and moved to Barbados, where he, with his long-untouched trust fund, purchased his first ship from a Greek cruise line, starting Tradewinds Cruise Line

Adi was born in Denpasar 23 September 1974, though after his mother's death in 1980, Ketut with his father and his grandmother moved to Los Angeles, USA. But he didn't feel at home there so Adi felt sad until the day he found a brochure about a trip to Barbados. He saw it and urged his father and grandmother to move to Barbados with him. After his father's death in 1997, Adi and his grandmother moved to Barbados with his orphaned girlfriend Emily Rutenberg, where he lives to this day, after getting married. He was employed as a cleaner in Star Cruises and because he impressed his bosses, he eventually became a Destination Manager, until 2010, when the cruise line went bankrupt. When he saw a job opportunity at the newly established Tradewinds Cruise Line, he applied and was hired as a destination manager.

Chief Engineer: TBA ((Ioh)) Area of Responsibility: Maintain ship, ensure fuel, repairs are conducted in port at proper times

((Alright, I have already placed those who requested positions into their slots. Zipp, if no one else chooses Hotel Manager in the next 24 hours, then you can have it. In the meantime, please write up a character biography. One final request: to keep this organized, can we separate the IC and ((OOC)) chat in the thread, from now on. . Everything so far is OOC, until we fill all the spots.))

*If you volunteered to any of the positions, you receive, via express mail, tickets to Bridgetown International Airport (BGI), on the next flight today (or tomorrow). When you arrive, you are taken directly to your hotel in the center of town, on Broad Street, near the parliament building. After entering your room, you notice a letter on the bed, directing you to a second floor office across the street, above an Indian restaurant. When you enter the cramped office, a man, who introduces himself as Colin Kerr, shakes your hand and welcomes you to company headquarters.*

((Basically, we're RPing the first meeting of the crew. As soon as everyone RPs their entrance (preferably with a character bio ready), we'll start to make decison on stuff like our first itinerary, the ship's name, ideas for our summer homeport, and other important stuff like that. By the way, the cruises will be set in the present, real-time, and our homeport is set in the GMT-4 timezone.))

*When you arrive, you are given instructions for your first task by Captain Kerr:

((http://www.varianost...ueen-deck-plan/ This is basically our ship atm, without changes.))

Director of PA: "Create an initial press release, and announce our partnerships with various British tour groups. We're based in Barbados because this port is known for its fly cruises, that take advantage of not needing to fly into US customs. Around 60 percent of our staterooms are reserved for the travel agencies, but we also sell our rooms independently from them, also. Since you were the first to sign a contract, you also have the privilege of renaming the decks. The Greek-styled names worked when the ship was based in the Eastern Mediterranean, but now we've moved (for now)."

Cruise Director: "Your current facilities include the fitness center, the two pool areas and surrounding decks, the two lounges (not including the bars), the small casino in the central lounge (make a decision on whether to expand the casino into the central lounge or not), the spa areas, and the shopping arcade. Determine whether they will be re-themed and/or renamed, and book some acts for our first sailing."

Hotel Director: "Determine what our rooms include. The previous owners were generous with the amenities, and I'd like to keep it that way. Look at each of our cabins: should we buy new furniture, create theme cabins, add anything else? It might be prudent to invest in soundproofing, since, being one of the oldest ships in the industry, the engines are LOUD (Previous passengers complained of hearing the engines while sunbathing on the sun deck)."

Executive Chef: "The previous owners prided themselves on quality, fresh ingredients. You have four bars (top of the ship, buffet, restaurant, and central lounge), a buffet, and a formal restaurant to manage. Do you want to rename the restaurant, buffet or bars (you share one bar with a lounge, so you need to agree with the Cruise Director on that one)? Also, determine what cuisine we will serve? Will we serve regional dishes, or go with a distinct cuisine for all our cruises? Remember that the passengers will be split from the Americas and Europe, roughly, so take that into consideration."

Destination Manager: "For our first itinerary, we can go west towards the ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaco) and Colombia, north up the rest of the Lesser Antilles, or (this one would be the "exotic" option) towards Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. Take into account our speed (16 knots / 30 km/h / 18 mph), and give passengers time to explore any destinations we stop at (during the day, of course). At night, we should be sailing, unless the destination warrants two days instead of one (no more than one night in port). Since you're in charge of shore excursions, you can also get a start at that, but that is of a lesser priority at the moment."

Chief Engineer: "Ensure we are properly stocked with supplies prior to departure (once we figure out when we sail), and figure out how we can make that engine less noisy than it already is, if it is possible."

M/V Placeholder  - Ships Engineer Report

The engines noise comes with its age, she's over 40 years old, so unfortunately it can't be fixed.

She's in working order, however engine no.2 is at reduced efficiency, we've not established what the cause is yet but its safe to run, maximum speed is estimated to be at around 12-14knots.

Ships ready to sail.

Thats all :)

Yeah, but replacing the engines would require us cutting the current ones out of the ship, and I'd like to get some cruises under the belt before we put her in dry dock. On a side note, the formal restaurant doesn't have a buffet. It's the sort of place you need at least a sports jacket to eat at.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

My name is Wronek and I am the Director of Public Affairs at Tradewinds Cruise Line. On behalf of the executive team at Tradewinds, I would like to announce that we are beginning operations in Barbados. The public will be able to enjoy luxurious cruises around the Caribbean. To book a luxury cruise, you can contact Lynott Tours Inc., Cosmos Budget Tours, Kensington Tours, or book directly at CruiseTradewinds.com. Everyone at Tradewinds is excited to see you come on our ship. Enjoy your sailing!

For route, we will use the ABCC route (Aruba-Bonaire-Curacao-Colombia) and we will give people many hours in land since we sail at night. Excursion details will be announced later.

Thank You  :)

Alright, if no one objects, our port of calls will be Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, and Cartagena, Colombia. I propose, since the ABC Islands are relatively close to each other, we choose either a routing of Barbados-Bonaire-Aruba-Cartagena-Curacao-Barbados or Barbados-Curacao-Cartagena-Aruba-Bonaire-Barbados. I'll let everyone vote on it (BACC vs. CCAB). On a side note, our ship's name is official now: the M/V Essence.

Also, for a US winter cruise, how about a repositioning into the Southern Hemisphere (Australia?) for a cruising season?
