As a paid only option, no. Airline Empires distinguishes itself from the competition by providing high quality free simulation access. Without that factor, I fail to see how it would stand out from the crowd.
As an add-on, perhaps. However, if I recall correctly, Yuxi stated that making certain portions of AE premium or pay-to-access would not be worth the extra administrative load.
It's really me, now. #backtoAE

Why?
Because we plebeians don't have moolah, unlike you bourgeoisie
And what QK said. Yuxi did mention that ago.
Anyway in either case, I should be ignoring this thread in the first place... After all Yuxi calls the shots...

Toasting in a Trole Bread.
Obviously it's a horrible idea outside private worlds for reasons I can't even be bothered saying because I have to leave for school now.
Implying I actually don't want to see this happen?

Yes - so AE has no members. Better still - make chat an extra $4.99 fee per month. It'd be massive improvement....

Everyone will just move to Airline sim or something then (I'd still prefer AE only I'd stop playing )

I'd stop playing
That would actually be a good reason to make a it paid

I would love to pay for some automation feature
time is money, so if I can save some time for replacing aging aircraft with an automation feature, why not pay?
information is also money, so if there's an option to receive in-game business intelligence to make better strategy, why not pay?
although, the pay option should not affect the gameplay for the non-paying user, and the key is finding the balance between them

I understand the server, bandwidth, electricity have a cost. Free to Play model worked on other MMO, If the paid content, do not ruin the fun for those who don't paid.
Majority of audience here is causal, young without a credit card.
If it is a paid product I expect there is some feature that is unique, better and distinguish from other product on the market.
I would pay for something like:
1.certain feature/plane is paid only. (group -match lowest price/change some setting)
2.Paid for uncapped cash account/ranking.
3.Free servers are congested, paid servers are uncongested.
