In your personal life, how is the government shutdown affecting people on AE?

I may as well go first...

Every year at school, it is an annual tradition in our grade to go to the Indiana Dunes for a science field trip. Except this year, we are unable to, due to the government shutdown. Therefore, we have to relocate to Grand Mere State Park in Michigan, which basically no one has ever heard of. Now I am sad. :(

I'm on $ watch. Waiting. For the money markets to get a bit more nervous before exchanging £ for $ for next years holiday. Waiting for the tourist rate to hit $1.60, it was $1.45 last May. Will however buy as soon as the $ looks like recovering.

Given that I'm in Aus it hasn't affected me personally, however I'm sitting here reading the news and hoping the fools you have in charge over there strike a deal within the next ten days, because otherwise s*** gets a whole lot worse...

I belong to a Toastmasters chapter (to develop speaking and leadership skills) that meets in a government building.  Now we can't meet because our meeting space is closed.

I like to annoy people by posting in inapplicable threads, but I still can because I'm not American. :D :rofl2: XD

In other news Ireland still owes €15,000 or $20,000 per person to a load of countries and 10,000 people starve to death every day.

Doesn't actually effect me in any way currently. As an American who doesn't live in the US... Only way it will bother me is if they reduce staff at the border and making the crossing slower (which I don't think they will since it's essential to National Security).

Now... If they let the US default on it's debt... that's another story.
