I am thinking of starting a new airline in either S3B or R2 when they relaunch. Then I thought of a different business type. I was thinking of starting an airline, with a ~50 seater aircraft in Ireland. This is where it would be different:

1. I only utilise my plane 10-12 hours per day.

2. I charge less than the recommended fare

3. I supply more than the demand.

4. I am not a budget airline.

So basically I copy the Aer Arann/ Aer Lingus Regional business model. I fly to UK destinations (LTN, MAN, BHX, GLA etc.) and LRT Lorient in France at cheaper prices. eg. $100. I would fly from WAT, ORK, SNN, GWY, NOC, LDY, NOC and CFN and SXL. Maybe DUB. Basically, for those of you who don't know the Irish airports: 2 airports under 40,000 passengers, 2 40,000-80,000, 2 80,000-400,000, 1 400,000-1,000,000. 2 1,000,000- 2,500,000. 1 19,000,000. Most routes are less than 400 miles and the destinations in Britain are 1000000-2000000

When doing the said realistic airline:

You'd need to offer a realistic/decent IFS (surprisingly real passengers wouldn't pay $70 for a terrible meal),

Utilization would probably need to be about 12 hours and less for a regional airline (Passengers wouldn't really like waking up really early or ending the day really late just for the sake of a small hop)

And you wouldn't hub all those places, basically. I'd probably use Dublin, Shannon and Cork.

You don't want to be flying in small airports, you isn't going to be a *realistic* demand for flights like WAT-BHX so keep that in mind.

I know this, I am not going to be doing a scam IFS, that ruins the point of trying to succeed at it. Also, I wasn't planning on making any hubs in the smallest airports. For the record though, with my airline in S3B I made Waterford, Galway and Donegal. (WAT, GWY, CFN). I ended up with 25%, 32% and 42% usage but right now I make $7 mill. Not too bad for a regional airline.http://ae31.airline-...e3s3b&player=56

Eventually I even had Donegal- Montreal flight 1x weekly.

Having a realistic airline is rather challenging on AE, but start it in an undeserved country will help it out

I think I will set up in R2 when that finishes in 3 weeks. Any ideas on a plane ( as long as it is 1970-2010, which I'm assuming)? I was thinking of F-27, YS-11, An-24 or Yak-40. All of which I have problems with. If anyone could tell me a ~50 seater plane around in 1970, which is quite profitable? Except the HS 748. Or I can go for the S3B world.

Yak-40

Are they even very good? I wanted to try one out but in all the worlds I'm in they're not in production.

What do you mean? I mean. In my opinion Ireland is the ideal country.

In ireland, yak-40 is an unrealistic choice, as is the an-24. F-27s are quite nice and were operated by aer lingus.

In my experience, F-27s don't function well if your not charging the recommended amount. One of the reasons I use An-24s or ATR 42s or Saab 2000s.
