Hi,

 

Over the past few days I worked on remaking MyVirtualFlights which sounded fun, (special thanks to the research and suggestions by Northern Group, ioh, Kai, and BBM) and I am now able to release it into Early Alpha (Meaning, its very limiting, very buggy, and is basically just the framework) But I am open to suggestions and it would help greatly if you could try it out, give suggestions find bugs etc.

Hey nice one bro! Joined as user member f (problem?) and booked my first flight, LHR-FRA. Could really hope you sort the airports list by letters A-Z, descending. Though overall is good!

yeah, fair point. Changed so now it orders it alphabetically

New Update: 

 

Mileage plans added, check in system added. 

 

Now you must check in for a flight at most 1 day before the flight and at least the day of the flight, Once you check in, miles from that flight will be added to your mileage plan for that airline. Although you currently can check in for any flight meeting these conditions (regardless of your location, or whether there are conflicting flights limiting you only to money that you have) that wont be the case for long as it is definitely on my list to fix that ;P

Going off topic, one of the things that I'll be working on soon are competitions/challanges to earn extra money, any ideas for those that you would like to see?

Hello all,

Another update! there is now a page with a route map of all the flights in the database (though dont expect it to be up much, it stops working as soon as something is entered wrong into the database which is often  ):http://www.virtuflig...om/routeMap.php

Also there is a new airport details page, you can access it by clicking the airport name in the current location text at the top, or when booking flights, that page will display a map of flights from that airport, people currently at that airport, or enroute to that airport, as well as a timetable of all departures from that airport. 

Also, there is now location awareness, initially you wont have a location, but after you check in for your first flight, you will have a location, which is shown at the top. Flying time is also simulated now. Once you have a current location, you can only check in if you are at that airport and on the ground (not enroute to), once you check in you can not check in for any other flight.

Book Flights page now has a searchable destination selector, so its less annoying to book a flight. Date selector's been fixed too so it works on all (most) browsers

How do you join Virtu flights?

you create an account, once you do there is a book flights tab where you book flights. Once you book a flight, you need to check in within 24 hours of the flight, once you do your location will be changed to 'enroute to XYZ', your miles will also be added to your FF mileage account for that airline.

The game hasn't had any updates in almost a year, the developer, svirdovt hasn't been active on AE in a few months. At the moment virtuflights is stagnant, if I could Id take it on myself however I'm only an admin and don't have the source code or development tools.

 

Feel free to play it though, there's nothing stopping you

I didnt realize you guys were still playing it  

I could resume development if you wish, since after December all of my college apps will be done/first semester over so senioritis is I still have all of the data and everything on my server. I will give you the URL tomorrow if you want (I need to update the settings to point to the proper location). Its up to you if I resume development, I personally had a blast developing it, really the only reason I quit were two: 

1. I thought no-one really wanted to play it, so I didnt feel like it would be missed 

2. Spam on the bug-reports site, which really got on my nerves. 

 

But like I said, if you guys want I'll be more than happy to resume development...
