I was just wondering why the two engined A350 has such maintenance costs compared to the 787? It's about 1.5x the cost of the engines on the 787. I was expecting similar operating costs.

Yes they are faster but the 747-8 is also fast and its four engines are only slightly more expensive to maintain.

The A380 is TONS for base maintenance cost. Also the A350 costs more to buy and I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that on AE it is just a percentage of the base buying price.

Isn't maintenance cost based entirely on price of the aircraft?
Hence why the CSeries costs more to maintain than the A32X.
