I do not understand how the competition works.

I have better reputation than other airlines, better IFS,  better route reputation. But, when the prices are equal (mine and the other airline), I have less than 20% of the passangers. WHY?

Maybe you have less seats on the route or have only joined that route recently when he has been on it for a long time.

If that were true, premium carriers wouldn't exist - they'd all be bankrupt and AE spam-lines would rule the world

On topic - until service quality starts to play a large factor on determining load factors, don't bother - you'll loose out simply because the other guy dropped his fares by a single dollar.
