You could organise the game so that once an airline has ordered 500 aircraft from a manufacturer the airline could order two different aircraft, from the same family, in production at the same time. Incidentally aircraft don't suddenly age overnight so with a little planning, and purchasing on the used market as and when available, this problem is avoided.

The current system can be a pain in later years as I need:
- A320-200 to replace near 20 year old A320s
- A318 to replace Bae 146
- A319-100 to replace MD-88

I would like to be able to order all of these at the same time.

BUT, the problem with allowing orders like this is that in a new world airlines will order all the versions that they can to speed deliveries.

So do you mean that you want the all the aircraft in the A320 family to come out at the same time? That doesn't exactly work because we'd have the 747-8i flying in the 70s

Lets multiply them together, 100000% still seems fair.

Lets not do it, as it's so unrealistic

Actually, It could possibly be worked in realistically.

Alta orders 50 DC-9s

Alta then scales its order back to 25, with boeing already having begun building those DC-9s

Southern Airlines orders the 50% produced Alta DC-9s.

Although realistic, that could suffer from and encourage multi-airline/player abuse imo.

Airline Empires is not realistic:

If in the real world a airline ordered 20 A319-100LR's and 20 A320-200's and 20 A321-200's the airline would get to choose in what order
to receive the ordered aircraft, also in real life if there was a large increase of aircraft orders the mfr would increase the rate of manufacture to meet demand

boeing.mediaroom.com - Boeing Production Rate Increases Accelerated to Meet Customer Demand

Quoting www.aircargoworld.com June 2011 Manufacturers ramp up aircraft production to meet market demand :

... To meet this anticipated demand, Boeing will begin manufacturing 42 Next-Generation 737s per month in 2014. The company currently maintains a monthly production rate of 31.5 airplanes, although it plans to up this number to 35 in early 2012. ...

... Once the production rate has fully increased, Boeing aspires to manufacture two 737s per workday. This would translate to nearly 500 aircraft each year. ...

Quoting www.airbus.com HIGHER PRODUCTION GOALS, WHILE NEW AIRCRAFT TAKE SHAPE (2012) :

... The planned production acceleration will raise Airbus’ output for its best-selling A320 Family in 2012 to an all-time high of approximately 42 aircraft monthly, with the A380 cadence moving toward three per month, and production of the A330 rising to meet a goal of 9.5 jetliners monthly. ...

Well at the moment, AE is as realistic as it can be for now,and to speed up aircraft deliveries making the worlds even more flooded with AC is just idiotic

The difference is I would be able to order 2* Boeing 737-300's, then 2* Boeing 737-400's, then 2* Boeing 737-500's,

Currently I am limited to buying one aircraft in each family due to the way deliveries inside aircraft families are set up - in this example all Boeing 737-500's* = a smaller example for brevity, the order amounts would be higher in game (say 50 , 50, 50)
Current delivery system =2 Boeing 737-300's delivered then2 Boeing 737-400's delivered then
2 Boeing 737-500's delivered

in this current system if I then ordered another 2 737-500's they would be delivered AFTER the 2 737-300's and the 2 737-400's

Proposed O* worlds delivery system would =1 Boeing 737-300 delivered then1 Boeing 737-400 delivered then
1 Boeing 737-500 delivered then1 Boeing 737-300 delivered then1 Boeing 737-400 delivered then
1 Boeing 737-500 delivered

IF that is what you want there is nothing to stop you ordering one at a time in any order you like within the one family.

IF that is what you want there is nothing to stop you ordering one at a time in any order you like within the one family.

But then you will not receive a manufacturer discount for ordering say 50+ aircraft at once

Then what we need is a sub screen for each aircraft family (revamp the ordering process)

so you decide how many of each of the available members of the aircraft family you want to order, and in what order

no more ordering individual members of aircraft families (with more than 2 aircraft in the family currently available for purchase) separably

with a screen with the aircraft (with aircraft type & aircraft id number listed) so we can drag them into the order we want to receive them

(selecting an aircraft by moving it up or down in the list)

So for example:

We could order 80 Boeing 737NG aircraft consisting of

20 Boeing 737-600
20 Boeing 737-700
20 Boeing 737-800
20 Boeing 737-900

and then drag them (up and down in the projected delivery list) into the order that we want to receive them

with the default listing in this case consisting of delivery of groups of 4

(1 737-600, then 2 weeks later 1 737-700, then 2 weeks later 1 737-800, then 2 weeks later 1 737-900 ; then 2 weeks later repeat)
