WestIndian Airlines re-brands as Horizon Airlines, An AGI Company.
The move comes after WestIndian was bought by the AGI Corporation (Adiel Goodridge Incorporated) of Tobago. An increase in fuel prices,Increased competition in the Caribbean Market which is a clear impact of the growing tourism industry, has flooded and saturated the market. To keep up with increasing competition the new airline board gave green light to the marketing dept to re-brand the airline and also giving WestIndian Airlines to reposition its self in the Caribbean market. We want our passenger to experience the Caribbean's best, experience the true Caribbean airline. Made in Tobago has always been our synonym of quality and durability. That's why we ordered 45 Airbus A320-200's to replace our aging Boeing 737-300 fleet for interisland, Central American and interBrazilian travel, 28 Airbus A330-300 replacing our A320's on our North and South American destinations, 9 Airbus A340-200 and 37 Boeing 747-400's for European routes and 6 Airbus A340-300 for Middle Eastern and African routes. Horizon is also working with Airbus in developing a shortened, longer-range variant of the A330-300 dubbed the A330-200 due for launch in 1998. Offering 400 flights a day to 53 Destinations and counting with 81,335 passengers carried daily, no wonder there's low fares and great service on the Horizon.
