I prefer Boeing because one its not government owned and two its been around longer which means to me at least it must be safer.

Boeing and Airbus are rated the two most safest aircraft  However Airbus is the safer aircraft due to its fly-by-wire and relies solely on its technology. Both manufactures makes good planes, it's how the operator maintains their aircraft. I see this debate (Airbus or Boeing) as an opinion rather than facts because the are both good companies. I personally prefer Airbus other people may not agree. Also as a trainee engineer I have heard from experience staff that Airbus are more safer than Airbus. In fact apart from this year, there hasn't been an incident with Airbus since 2010.

In 2013

  • January 29 – SCAT Airlines Flight 760, a Bombardier CRJ200, crashes in thick fog near Almaty, Kazakhstan, killing all 16 passengers and 5 crew on board.
  • February 13 – South Airlines Flight 8971, an Antonov An-24, crashes in fog at Donetsk, Ukraine, killing five of 52 people on board.
  • April 13 – Lion Air Flight 904, a Boeing 737 carrying 101 passengers and 7 crew members crashes into the ocean while attempting to land on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, injuring 46 people.
  • April 29 – National Airlines Flight 102, a Boeing 747 freighter carrying cargo and 7 crew members, stalls and crashes shortly after takeoff from Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, killing all crew members.
  • May 16 – Nepal Airlines Flight 555, a de Havilland Canada Twin Otter, runs off the runway while landing at Jomsom Airport, injuring seven people; the aircraft is written off.
  • July 6 – Asiana Airlines Flight 214, a Boeing 777, crashes short of the runway on landing at San Francisco International Airport, killing three of 307 on board and injuring 182. The crash is the first fatal accident involving the 777, the first fatal accident in the United States since 2009, and the first fatal accident in North America involving a major airline since 2001.
  • July 7 – A de Havilland DHC-3 otter operated by Rediske Air crashes at Soldotna Airport, Alaska, killing all 10 people on board.
  • August 14 – UPS Airlines Flight 1354, an Airbus A300, crashes short of the runway on approach to Birmingham–Shuttlesworth International Airport, killing the 2 crew on board.

As you can see that this year alone until today there has only been One Airbus incident compared to 3 Boeings (note that the Airbus was a All cargo AIrcraft)

I have linked a list and you can see that Airbus have less incident than Boeing since they both started production.

There are factors such as what aircraft fly more than the other daily to consider

American Airlines operates an all Boeing fleet. No wonder they're so deadly.

Could be that they don't maintain their fleet properly but reading through their list of incident, it is quite shocking. Also American Airlines operate an all Boeing Fleet not because they prefer Boeing over Airbus, but mainly because Boeing is based in the states which is more practical and cheaper for American Airline.

Also American Airline's average age is a shockingly 15 YEARS! I've seen older but for a company representing America as a their flag carrier, am quite speechless O_O

Despite this, I love AA  :D

Actually, AA doesn't operate an all Boeing fleet (discounting the A319s they just got). Just thought I'd put that in there.
