Hello, ^_^

I'm managing to screw up airlines that i think are stable over and over again and i don't know what i'm doing wrong.

I keep starting airlines and focusing on them until i think they are stable enough to be put on "hold". And they seem to be, but then they bankrupt

over a day. The largest i had being Shuttle America (around 100 planes) that bankrupted overnight. This has happened to four of my airlines now and i don't know what i'm

doing wrong   :(

Thanks.

Do you have airplanes leased and the leases expire?

Logo and Livery Request.

Jet Express.

I am very open to design however, I love the modern sleek look and the bright colors, especially blue. If you want to please do if not, then I completely understand. Either way thanks for taking time to read this. Thanks.

Hello, ^_^

As another new player, and coupled with a lack of details I can only think of a couple things.

  • Leasing many types like mad
    • So you got a profitable airline and just need more planes.  So you go out and get 3 A330, 3 767, 3 757, 2 A340, 7 737, 10 A320, and 8 Q400 and as they come in put them on big money routes and....you are bankrupt.
      • More aircraft should be balanced.  Too many different types drive up maintanance costs a great deal.  A single 787 will have a maintaince bill of about 6 mill, 5 have a bill of about 7.  Get more aircraft in less types.
    • Lease 50 used 30yr old aircraft at once.  Get them now, route them now.
      • Remember leased aircraft have payments starting 6 months after you lease them.  If you lease like mad, paying for them on the knifes edge off some profitable routes or from money you banked over the past week you risk getting put in the ground by competition moving in on your routes.
      • Used aircraft have slightly higher maintanance cost, though its only about 150% for a 10 year old aircraft
  • Started in the US/open world after year 0
    • So you start an airline in Baltimore and pick up some sweet routes, go to bed and
      • All routes in the negative
      • Aircraft siezed to missing lease payment
      • The US and open worlds are hives of spam airlines.  At a moment's notice your best hub could be flooded by a spammer and your profits will dry up fast.
        • Don't play an open world thats more than 10% in progress
        • Just play in a Realistic or Special Rules world.  You may need to a play a regional airline in Madascar, but you will also be able to leave the airline for a day or two without any worry.
