I'm just voicing my opinion and the thoughts of others that have not commented that a game starting in the 1980s is what they would prefer.

Id much prefer a start during the 70's. 1980 id live with but 1985 I wouldnt be happy with. And it seems nobody wants over 1985 but people want lower, so why the hell 1985?

Everyone except the one who has to deal with server capacity issues... (not shooting down the idea of a second R-Delta but don't expect a second one right at this moment)
How does 1980-2020 sound?

A couple of problems with that:
- No aircraft support. Your aircraft would only be the modern ones, and those stop production in 2040.
- It'd be dead from the getgo. There are no new planes after 2017, so you'd be bored outta your mind.

As someone who likes modern aircraft, I can understand the desire for a world starting in 2010. The main difficulty is that we do not have futuristic aircraft like the A320NEO and 737MAX in the game, so there won't be any new aircraft coming out past 2015 or so. Of course the latter issue may not be a problem for some people. Nevertheless, the number of players interested in playing after 2030 is rather low.
At the moment I would point you to R6. Another option is to join an existing world running when it hits 2010.
