As a realistic world, I think that some airports in Brazil are laking the proper political settings.
The airports CGH (Aeroporto de Congonhas/São Paulo), SDU (Aeroporto Santos Dumont) and PLU (Aeroporto da Pampulha/Carlos Drummond de Andrade) are airports in Brazil located in the major cities that aren't allowed to have international flights.

CGH is the most striking as it's the 4th in Brazil in passenger traffic but that's only through national flights. SDU have a very short runway which limits it's use in the game with flights from other countries, but still it should be fixed too. PLU although small in traffic can still have use for it.

The runway @ CGH isn't that long to begin with and you'll either have a problem two ways...you'll either have aircraft that can land at the airport, but don't have the "legs" to get itself there OR you'll have aircraft with "legs" to get itself there, but won't be able to land.

The logic really isn't there, yet, but when the A350 Family becomes available, you'll definitely have the choice to get your people there.

Yeah, indeed the CGH runway isn't long (as well with SDU, which is so short that even most B737s can't land there), but still you can land a B767 there, which has a great reach, as well you can land any A320 family planes, so you can cover almost the whole South America and part of the Caribbean and this simply isn't allowed in real life. Also CGH has one of the biggest passengers demand, making it an "obvious" choice for international flights, specially between the major cities in South America.

Maybe I get more bothered about it because I'm Brazilian and I remember well the repercussion after the TAM JJ3054 flight accident.
And if political restrictions have been applied to other airports, why not make it available to a Brazilian airport? Anyway, I'm playing in a realistic world so I expect these kind of "bummers".

yeah I can relate to that JJ3054 incident and all my prayers go out to them all on that horrible evening.

I'm sure if their is something in works for the Brazilian Airports Authority to expand the runway @ CGH to 8,000 + feet long i'm sure that will be the game changer for both GIG and GRU as CGH will take at least 70 to 80% of the traffic away from those two other airports in Brasil...and that will also introduce the "Heavies" to start landing there from all over.

AE 4 will support much more sophisticated restrictions. Right now it is not feasible to add these varied rules around the world for technical reasons. :P

But LGA and DCA are also restricted, though on an other basis. And the EU open skies agreement is something similar, just the other way round I'd thought.

LGA and DCA has got range restrictions, not country specific restrictions ;)
