Well...since I am bored and the roleplay forum has mostly been politics...I think I would like to start something new...Cross-Country Rails!

You are a new start-up with an unlimited budget ( :P ) and you are set to replace the current long-distance rail company currently operating in any country around the world! Choose your rolling stock, design your stations, do whatever you want! Start one today!


I'll start tomorrow when I have more time. :P

Well...since...no one chose to start...I will start...as MidwestRail! MidwestRail is headquartered in Union Station, Chicago, Illinois. The current MidwestRail fleet contains...

3 GE Genesis (2 run on the Chicago-Milwaukee Route, 1 runs as a backup)
5 Amfleet Coaches

And the current routes served are...

Chicago-Milwaukee (Starts September 15th, 2012)

The current timetable will be posted on September 15th. Also, more information, such as fares will be posted too!

Virgin Kitty is starting it's own line with three maglevs purchased from the long-bankrupt Shanghai Airport Maglev service that went bankrupt in 2032. The Five-City Connector will travel mostly through the cities of Chicago, Fort Wayne, Columbus, Morgantown, and Pittsburgh.

The line is a total of 551.3 miles long, and takes just over two hours to travel the entire line from Chicago to Pittsburgh and vice versa.

8 minutes from Chicago to South Chicago (speed limited in city limits to 100 mph)
6 minutes from South Chicago to Gary (speed limited in city limits to 100 mph)
6 minutes from Gary to Michigan City
7 minutes from Michigan City to South Bend
8 minutes from South Bend to Warsaw
4 minutes from Warsaw to Columbia City
4 minutes from Columbia City to Fort Wayne
5 minutes from Fort Wayne to Decatur
11 minutes from Decatur to Lima
12 minutes from Lima to Marysville
6 minutes from Marysville to Columbus
22 minutes from Colombus to Parkersburg
17 minutes from Parkesburg to Pleasant Valley
4 minutes from Pleasant Valley to Morgantown
14 minutes from Morgantown to Pittsburgh

Two of the maglevs will be offering back-and-forth services on the main line, but the third maglev will operate only to the cities listed in bold.

The Los Cabos Express is an semi-high speed train from San Diego, CA to a terminal halfway between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas.

There are two nine-car trainsets for the 14 hour overnight train:

Typical Trainset:
1. EMD F59PHI locomotive
2. EMD F59PHI locomotive
3. Viewliner II baggage car
4. Viewliner II baggage car/dorm
5. Viewliner II sleeper car
6. Viewliner II sleeper car
7. Viewliner II dining car

MidwestRail would like to announce that it will be starting services from Chicago to New York Penn Station! Trains will depart Chicago Union Station at 6:30PM and arrive at New York Penn Station at 2:35PM. Trains will then depart from New York Penn Station at 5:00PM and arrive in Chicago at 10:00AM. Please note that passengers travelling from Elkhart, IN, Waterloo, IN, Bryan, OH or Erie, PE will have to book their tickets before 5:00PM the day that their train departs going eastbound (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and book their tickets before 4:30PM on the day that their train departs from New York Penn (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays).

Trains consist of:
1. P32AC-DM
2. P32AC-DM
3. Baggage Car
4. Amfleet Coach
5. Amfleet Coach
6. Amfleet Coach
7*. Amfleet Coach
8*. Amfleet Coach
9. Viewliner Diner
10. Viewliner Sleeper
11. Viewliner Sleeper
12*. Viewliner Sleeper

*- Cars are used according to demand.

The fleet of cars are based in Chicago.

Also, MidwestRail will be launching a new service, the New York-Springfield Shuttle! Trains run from New York to Springfield via. New Rochelle, Stamford, New Haven, Wallingford, Meriden, Berlin, Hartford, Windsor, Windsor Locks and then arriving at Springfield. The train trip takes about 2 1/2 hours each way, and there are 5 round-trips each day.

MidwestRail announces that due to Hurricane Sandy, all New Haven-Springfield shuttle services from 12:00AM Monday morning will be cancelled until further notice. Also the Broadway Limited service from Chicago to New York on Monday, and to Chicago on Tuesday, will be cancelled. MidwestRail is advising all passengers to contact their local MidwestRail office, or call MidwestRail Operations Center at 800-555-RAIL (7245).
