I had this idea about how to integrate lounges to AE. Comments are always welcome!
So the idea goes like this:
We can construct lounges anywhere on the airline's network.
We can build them based on square feet/meters
As in real life we pay a rent to the airport at the end of each month, which is based on the gate leasing price and the size of the lounge so this eliminates inconsistencies:
-for example building one in LHR will be far more costly (based on the gate leasing price) than one in MLA for example (however a humongous lounge in MLA, say 11000 sq ft/m could be more expensive than a smaller in LHR)
-A 200 sq ft/m loung in LHR will be costlier than a 110 sq ft/m lounge for example
We can add amenities from a drop-down menu as we already do in IFS. We could choose if we include food/drinks/wifi/a la carte service, etc. and control the quality (from 1 to 5 as we already do) and if we charge for these services.
And in exchange route reputation from all routes from that city could increase based on size/service of the lounge and maybe overall reputation as well?
You could see which airlines have lounges in an airport page and alliances show the number of lounges on their statistics.
And maybe sometime when sharing terminals between alliance members the lounge also benefits other members rather than just the owner?
So this is the idea. As i've said before comments are always welcome . I don't know if it will be very difficult to integrate, but this is just to make AE more realistic.

I think this is the most realistically possible way to do lounges. However, I think there are things much higher up on the list that need to be worked out first.

Very much agreed with this, but once the main priorities have been covered, maybe adding this in an update of AE4 (4.1(if AE4 ever happens)) along with other features that are lower priority.I think this is the most realistically possible way to do lounges. However, I think there are things much higher up on the list that need to be worked out first.

Great idea, but it is quite big and probably won't be added until at least AE4.

Good idea but I think this will be considered to be implemented for the next version of AE 4 (after timetabling etc) which is logically still 25 years to happen

would lounges be $0 per sq/ft or sq/m if built in your own terminal?

I wouldn't think so... but then again, the whole "terminal" thing would have to be rethought.
It's really me, now. #backtoAE

I think this is a good idea. Many thing need to be worked out first though.

How about it being like a board room. You can either charge people to have access to it or you can have it included in the ticket. Although for the size of the board room you could have it be like gates were there are a certain amount and you have to build your own once they are all taken.

The simplest solution would be to integrate lounges into Terminals. How often do you see a lounge at an airport with only a handful of flights by the airline? None like that come to my mind.

well it depends what you mean by handful
NZ, AF, QF, PR and HA don't have huge operations out of LAX and yet have lounges.
