This committment will be implemented through the introduction of:
- 7 state of the art 29 seat Jetstream 41 &
- 1 19 seat Jetstream 32 aircraft.
"These efficient turboprops will offer high frequency to regional Australia, ensuring business people, family and holiday makers can be connected to not only Ansett's mainline operation but also to the Star Alliance network overseas." - Aaron Winstanley, Ansett Australia Holdings CEO.
"The Star Alliance membership is fundamental to Australia's tourism industry meaning people can travel here from all areas of the world, I think its fair that regional Australia is offered this global exposure that our capital cities have enjoyed for years" Katie Gold, Ansett Traveland Travel Consultant.
"Ansett's committment to our state and the proposed introduction of Wagga, Dubbo, Balina, Tamworth and Broken Hill to be connected to Sydney, Melbourne and beyond is fankly exciting for us and we look forward to welcoming visitors into our part of the world" - Mary Glaysier, New South Wales Tourism Development Minister.
"The aircraft are high tech, efficient turboprops, so new in fact that we are the launch customer for the type which wont enter service with is until December 1992. We were faced with a decision, do we take on the larger ATP or do we take on the smaller aircraft and offer more frequency." - Dayne Smith, Fleet Intergration Manager.
"The forecast sales period for the Jetstream type ends in 1997 and our intentions are to secure enough of the type to fully cover our regional operations. At this stage we have 5 that will be on long term lease and two have been purchased outright".
