Just wondering at what date the maintenance costs are taken ?

Technically, at the end of the 24th of the month. However, at least in R4, they are taken out at the end of the 1st of the month.

New to this, but I have one Dash 7 (lease) that has 3 hours free. It is knocking down about $68,000 revenue per day. It is a 3 year old plane and the maintenance on it is over $900,000 per yr. Hard if not impossible to keep positive cash increasing. Would maintenance costs be that much in the real world?

Well, that comes up to 24.7 mil per year in profit. Remember that maint cost is taken out before you see the profit. Profit is profit.

Or maybe it is the monthly profit screen of the plane detail where that is subtracted. Figure new tires probably cost 100,000 or more. I could see it costing a good chunk every year in maint.
