I have been an X-Plane fanatic since version 7.30 about 8 years ago. The version 10 demo has just been released to the world, and shipping begins December 7th. I have to say, bearing in mind this is still in beta and many bugs still have to be ironed out, it is absolutely fantastic!

I think so. But I use a mac, so I've never really used MSFS

Carenado has already started developing for X-Plane, Aerosoft will be selling X-Plane and developing for it once V10 goes Final, and PMDG are seriously considering joining. Rumors are circulating that FSDreamTeam is thinking it over, and there are already several X-Plane only developers that are matching the quality of the best FS addons. Change is in the wind, my friends.

I haven't seen any good aircraft for X-Plane equivalent to the PMDG 737NGX / 747X, so I'm sticking with FSX for the time being :P

I'm confused about the demo... what is the difference between the demo version and and the full version? Is it really worth the $80+tax?

The only difference between the demo and the actual game is that the demo has a 10 minute play limit and does not include global scenery.

Does its global scenery really improve that much over FSX? Are there free HQ addons that are easy to fly? I'm on a budget, so I only spend on high quality stuff (FSX was a gift, I could never afford it on my own). Of course, a ten minute limit is definitely an incentive to upgrade.

I just installed the X-Plane 10 demo. On minimum graphics settings I'm getting ~18fps. I turned up the graphics settings to medium/medium-high range and wondered why things stopped moving - then realized it's literally running at 1fps XD Also, XP10 takes 2-3 times as long to load a flight as FSX does on my machine. Can't say I'm too impressed with the demo :whistling:

Oh :(

I was going to give it a try... but if it runs worse than FSX then...

its not a matter of running worse its just that its graphics are so high most computers cant handle it at this point in time

Actually, the new XP10 betas are running about twice as fast as the earliest versions. Getting about 30-40FPS on average with medium-high settings with my late 2010 iMac
