This was a reply to a different thread, however I'll officially propose it in suggestions/feature requests.

I propose an additional 'modifier' that will increase the demand domestically within either a state, country or region. This would be needed in places like Hawaii and New Zealand, where the demand is much too low on shorter flights. New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii all need considerably more domestic demand, which is unavailable in the game. New Zealand in particular could probably be safely increased by 150%.

Very good idea. It is hard to start an airline in small places with demand no where near like in real life! :P

There should probably be some sort of limiter on this. For instance, in AE the UK domestic air market is booming, and I'm pretty sure not many people want to fly Norwich to Anglesey.

We have the option for states already in AE, so perhaps some states and/or nations could be given a "highland & island" modifier, where required. That way, without making LHR-MAN even more popular, domestic Scottish / NZ / Carribbean routes would be able to operate to more realistic schedules.

Smaller regions in larger countries could also use a boost. For instance, cities within Alaska would likely have more demand to each other, but one would have to find a way to increase their demand with each other without increasing demand from Alaska cities to all other US cities.

If the game's countries are split into states & provinces, a modifier to increase demand within the states would be greatly appreciated on my part!

Hmm. Also thinking about it, flights between between smaller airports could probably remain unaffected, by requiring that all increased flights start at an airport with more than xyz pax. (1.1 million would be sensible in New Zealand, as this would cover the major centres)

Which would(possibly) reduce the amount of work required(I know nothing about HTML,etc). And this is a suggestion that we could actually really use, above all suggestions for things like more IFEs, etc.

This is also important for California routes. For example, Southwest flies (and fills!) 15-20 73Gs daily each way from Oakland to each of the major Southern California airports (BUR/LAX/SAN/SNA/ONT)... and they do the same at San Jose, Sacramento and to a lesser extent San Francisco. There is *serious* intra-regional flying in California.

What proportion of those are O&D vs connecting pax?

I would expect a reasonable amount. California doesn't really have any other long distance public transport does it..?
Also useful would be a 'class demand' modifier. This could increase the business demand at certain airports, such as LHR, or change it to mostly economy, in places like STN.
